There is a great deal of hidden talent in our community and we need to bring it out so everyone can benefit!

If you know of someone who has a special talent or ability, or if you would like to become an instructor of a Community Education class, please complete the Community Education Instructor Application and drop if off at the Lincoln Education Center or mail it to Mark Greenig, Community Education, 204 East Willow Street, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501. Current pay is $15 per hour and individuals outside the Detroit Lakes area are reimbursed mileage. You don't need a degree to teach, you just need passion and knowledge. Teaching Community Education classes can prove to be very profitable- but, more than that, there is tremendous joy in sharing your special talents with others.

Interested in being a lifeguard?

The City of Detroit Lakes will be accepting applications starting the first day of March each year for summer lifeguard positions. Guards work 40 hours a week for 10 weeks. Job responsibilities include lifeguard at City Beach and summer swimming lessons in the Detroit Lakes High School. Applications need to be returned to Community Education and REcreation, Lincoln Education Center, 204 East Willow Street, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501 by April 1 each year. Interested in working at the Rec Center?

The City of Detroit Lakes will be accepting applications starting the first day of March each year for summer rec positions. Rec staff work Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., 30 hours per week for 10 weeks. Applications need to be returned to Community Education and Recreation, Lincoln Education Center, 204 East Willow Street, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501, by April 1 each year. Umpire positions available for Major League

The City of Detroit Lakes will be accepting applications starting the first day of March each year for the Major League baseball season. Salary is $15 per game. Games are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Applications need to be returned to Community Education and Recreation, Lincoln Education Center, 204 East Willow Street, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501, by April 1 each year.

Volunteer Coaching Positions available

The City of Detroit Lakes will be accepting applications for volunteer baseball and girls softball head coaches and assistant coaches. All positions are volunteer. You will coach them team in which your child plays. Schedule is approximately May through July. The number of games varies from league to league. Application and background checks are required for all applying.
