Driver’s Education training for Detroit Lakes students who are currently 15 years old or older at the time of the class.  Enrollment will be determined strictly by birth date.  Students with the earliest birth dates will have first option to take the class.  Your fee includes 30 hours of classroom followed by 6 hours of behind the wheel.   Students will receive behind the wheel closer to the time of their sixteenth birthday.   Attendance is mandatory.  Bring paper and pencil to class.  Your registration is completed when you submit the fee to the Detroit Lakes Community Education Office by the registration deadline.   The State of MN requires a certified copy of a birth certificate and Social Security card be presented at the time of your permit test.  There is a Driver’s Ed Certificate of Completion $20 processing fee if lost.  There is no class when school is not in session.  Parents are expected to pick students up promptly after each class.  Any inappropriate behavior will result in your child being dismissed from the class with a full refund.

Community Education also offers behind the wheel training to individual who have a current permit and needs behind the wheel.  The cost is $260 for six (6) hours of behind the wheel.
